Asheville NC Forest Hurricane Helene

With winds exceeding 100 MPH, Hurricane Helene caused what the US Forestry Service is classifying as "Catastrophic" damage in many parts of the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests to more than 187,000 acres of land, with 882,000 of the WNC timberland being affected.

The real threat from this comes from all of this timber heightening the threat of fire. Hopefully, the NOAA's prediction that the 2025 summer in Asheville, NC is going to result in above average precipitation.
